Bad things happen to good people

Where was god?

Shouldn't God be responsible for bad as well as good?

How many times have you heard people thank god when they have a close call. Doesn't is strike you as a bit absurd when little Johnny gets lost in the woods and when his mommy prays to God to find him he's then found, it's all due to the miraculous "intervention of God." So, where was God when little Johnny got lost; taking a nap....looking the other way.....playing a trick on little Johnny.....letting the devil have his way......teaching Johnny a lesson maybe. Come on, it's all too ridiculous.

Let's face it, bad things can happen to us in this world; sometimes from our own negligence, sometimes just randomly for no reason or because we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. "God" has no control. And if "God" has no control over the bad, let's not give him credit for the good. Again, sometimes good things happen just by accident, sometimes we've earned it and sometimes we're just lucky. Mostly however, we are in control of our own destiny. It's the "mostly" thing that scares most people into seeking a god. There is always uncertainity of not being able to always connect your actions and behaviors with consequences. In the face of fear and uncertainity, people turn to or create a mythological god to explain random good and bad events that happen in their lives.
